Scott J. Olheiser
Scott J. Olheiser is a fifth generation Wyomingite and his family has a strong background in farming and ranching as well as the oil and gas industry. Scott graduated from Natrona County High School with honors in 1990. He then attended Claremont McKenna College ("CMC") in Claremont, California where he graduated with an honors degree in government and economics. CMC is consistently ranked by U.S. News & World Report in the top ten to fifteen liberal arts colleges in the United States and is recognized as "most selective". He authored a Senior Thesis entitled the Intellectual Property Provisions of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
Scott then attended the University of Wyoming College of Law and graduated with a juris doctor law degree in 1997. While at the University of Wyoming, Scott was a member of the Natural Resources Law Forum, and was the President of the Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association, Student Chapter. Scott was also a member of the Senior Staff of the Land and Water Law Review. He authored Cooperative Ecosystem Management: can an ecosystem approach succeed in Wyoming? 32 LAND AND WATER LAW REVIEW 629-653 (1997). Scott also participated in and won the Client Counseling Competition along with partner Donna Mathews. Scott and Ms. Mathews then participated in a regional Client Counseling Competition in Honolulu Hawaii.
After graduating from law school, Scott served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable William F. Downes, United States District Court Chief Judge for the District of Wyoming. Subsequent to his clerkship with Judge Downes, Scott has aggressively pursued on a number of complex, challenging, and unique personal injury, oil and gas litigation, criminal defense, and domestic relations litigation cases. In the fall of 2004, Scott participated on behalf of the plaintiffs in the litigation and trial of a case wherein the jury awarded more than fifteen million dollars ($15,000,000.00) for the carbon monoxide poisoning death and injuries of a couple from North Carolina. Scott also participated in the litigation and settlement of several multi-million dollar gas royalty class action cases. Scott has practiced with Larry R. Clapp and Robert T. Ingram since 2005 with a practice focusing on large and complex personal injury cases, defending the rights of the criminally accused and litigating difficult and complex domestic relations cases.
